countryside\u2019s bleak but the route has a tweak<br \/>To Nowhere-Special-on-Sea<br \/>The tarmac snakes past peat-bog lakes<br \/>With curlews calling to me.<\/p><p>An islander\u2019s life is hard labour and strife<br \/>How do they get by on their doings?<br \/>The houses they scatter as if it don\u2019t matter<br \/>And the landscape is littered with ruins.<\/p><p>Benbecula\u2019s terrain is more of the same<br \/>And I start to hanker for change<br \/>Then lapwings courting or simply cavorting<br \/>And Grimsay is soon within range.<\/p><p>Causeway upon causeway, too many to say<br \/>North Uist arrives in two ticks<br \/>White sand that gleams, blue lagoons in between<br \/>Then RSPB and our
